Chilling in Illinois: Embracing the Polar Vortex with Cozy Fragrances

With many cities experiencing temperatures dipping into the single digits, it felt as if a collective shiver rippled through the Midwest, announcing the arrival of the new 2025. While this winter didn't bring that much snow to Illinois, the polar vortex returned, reminding everyone of the harshness of winter.

As we brace ourselves against the cold, it’s important to find ways to warm our spirits from within. One of the best methods to do so is through engaging fragrances. The right scent can transform a space and evoke feelings of warmth, making even the coldest days feel cozy. In this post, we'll explore fragrances that help you embrace this chilly season, keeping your spirits high.

Everyday winter survival guide

We wish we could just skip this part of the year and go streight to spring. Sadly, we still have to wake up early, prepare a morning cup of coffee and survive another commute to work. Let us explore specific fragrances that can help us survive and keep you warm during these chilly Illinois days.

1. Morning routine

Getting up early and forcing your self to leave the comfort and warmth of your bed is not easy. And while we wait for the house to warm up we prepare our morning coffe and a few bites to eat. We spray a happy and uplifting fragrance on our wrist to help us start the day. 1907 - Lilaganza brings spring into our minds with its dewy floral notes of neroli, lilacs, violets, and rose. Just one spray can bring a smile to your face and help you start your day happy. Trust us!

2. Crowded commute

You know the polar vortex is on the other side of your front door. You need something strong to keep you warm but you cannot use anything too crazy, bold, or overwhelming since you know you'll need to enter a crowded bus. EPC - Tonka Extraordinaire to the rescue! It is strong and very durable, but sits close to the skin so you won't bother anyone. And even if somene gets very close there is almost now way they won't think you smell delicious. This composition includes and overdose of tonka bean, with hazelnuts, almond, and vanilla. The sweetness is controlled with resins like frankincense, myhrr and labdanum, so it never truly goes int othe gourmand direction.

3. Chilly walk along the lake

This is your time - just you and the crazy wind. You look at the frozen lake and think there is in fact something beautiful in this moment. You sprayed Baruti - Perverso at home. The loudest fragrance you have ever encoutered. It is enveloping you with a loud and bold concoction, making a warm bubble around you. Tobacco, rum, cacao and caramel sound delicious, but they are so concentrated that even during the polar vortex it will turn heads if anyone passes next to you.

4. Office hours

You need something that will last the full eight hours. That will be your companion and make you happy, without bothering anyone else in the office or the elevator. Affinessence - Santal Basmati to the rescue. Affinessence fragrances are base-heavy and do not change much throughout the day. They are very long lasting but do not project a lot. The perfect cozy but professional woody smell is delivered by sandalwood which is the main note of this fragrance. Rice and cashmere add a cozy note with a hint of iris to add a bit more powderyness.

5. My dearest bed, here I come!

After a long cold day there is nothing better than taking a hot shower and going to bed. To take the stress off, a clean powdery fragrance is the best choice. Lorenzo Villoresi - Teint de Neige EDT is a great option for those who also like a touch of sweetness in their fragrance. This floral musky fragrance combines rose, heliotrope, ylang-ylang, and jasmine. It evokes cleanliness and inoscence and is perfect companion for going to sleep.

Winter in Illinois can be daunting, particularly with the polar vortex making its rounds each year. So this winter, indulge in fragrant comforts. Whether spraying your favorite perfume, lighting candles, diffusing oils, or baking your favorite treats, a little aroma can go a long way in making chilling days feel warmer.
